Last Night Hockey ACT held the Brophy/McKay awards night. This night Awards the best Players and Officials in Canberra's Hockey. KCP was I was lucky to be asked to cover the event again. I had a great night with many of Canberras great hockey talents
This years winners of the Brophy and McKay Medals were:

Bill Weidner Cup is for the administrator of the year and is awarded to the volunteer who contributes a significant amount to the administration of Hockey in the ACT.
Winner: Leo Clarke
Coca Cola Bottler Award is awarded to a female under the age of 21 who has significantly contributed to hockey in the ACT on and off the field.
Winner: Tara McLaughlin
David Webb Memorial Shield is awarded to a male under the age of 18 who has significantly contributed to hockey in the ACT on and off the field.
Winner: Jay Macdonald
Chris Rawlinson Memorial Shield is awarded to a male under the age of 21 who has significantly contributed to hockey in the ACT on and off the field.
Winner: Thomson Stuckey
Sue Watt Trophy is awarded to the female junior umpire who contributed the most to umpiring throughout the 2017 season.
Winner: Hannah Dix
Keith Harding Memorial Trophy is awarded to the male junior umpire who contributed the most to umpiring throughout the 2017 season.
Winner: Eligh Unwin
Umpire of the Year was donated in 1992 by Sam Topalidis and is awarded to the Umpire in the women’s competition who in the opinion of the Umpiring and Technical Committee, has umpired at a consistently high standard throughout the season.
Winner: Emily Carroll
Jim Gallagher Trophy is awarded to the umpire in the men’s competition who in the opinion of the Umpiring and Technical Committee is the most outstanding umpire throughout the season.
Winner: David Bridgford
Lyn Rippon Award is awarded to the most outstanding player at the Australian Under 18 Women’s Championships
Winner: Aleisha Price
The Hockey Shop Player Award is awarded to the most outstanding player at the Australia Under 21 Women’s Championships

Gallagher Shield named after Les Gallagher is awarded to the most outstanding player at the Australian Under 18 Men’s Championship.
Winner: Mathew Neeson
Ted Holmes Memorial Trophy is awarded to the most outstanding player at the Australian Under 21 Men’s Championships.
Winner: Ben Staines
ACT Academy of Sport ‘Power of Potential’ Awards are given each year to the female and male hockey player within the ACT Academy of Sport who have demonstrated the greatest commitment, dedication and contribution to the Academy program.
Winner: Kalindi Commerford (Women)

JR Fraser Trophy is awarded to the most improved player in the Women’s Capital League 1 competition who is selected on a vote by nominations from Capital League 1 Coaches.
Winner: Claudia Apps - Old Canberrans
Most Improved in Capital League 1 Men is awarded to the most improved player in the Men’s Capital league one competition, selected on a vote by nominations from Capital League 1 Coaches.
Winner: Davis Atkin - Wests
Deane McLennan Trophy is awarded to the leading goal scorer throughout the 2017 season in the Men’s Capital League 1 competition.
Winner: James Day – Old Canberrans with 25 goals
Peta Gallagher Award is awarded to the leading goal scorer throughout the 2017 season in the Women’s Capital League 1 competition.
Winner: Catriona Bailey-Price - Old Canberrans with 28 goals
Peter McNally Memorial Award was donated by the McNally family in recognition of Peter McNally’s services to Hockey ACT.
